Plain Tiger
Scientific name : Danaus chrysippus
The tip of the forewing is black with varied patches of white on the upper surface. the outer margins of both wings are black with minute white patches. The other areas of the wings are orange in colour. They are fast but with careless flight. They prefer to fly at shrub level visiting many flowers for nectar. Plain Tiger is common in the college campus and its numbers are high in the gardens where there are lantana plants. During the sunny day, it can be found flying in and around the campus.
